    Ordinary Members - Manufacturers

    Are defined as:

    1. Any business carrying on the business of manufacturing in Singapore.
    2. Any business carrying on the business of manufacturing outside of Singapore with research an development or HQ functions in Singapore or such other business functions as the Council may from time to time determine.
    3. Any business in Singapore providing direct integral businesses that support the business of manufacturing including but not limited to assembly, maintenance, engineering services, fabrication and packaging or such other integral businesses as the Council may from time to time determine.
    4. Any business which meets the following criteria:
      1. Employment No: more than 20
      2. Fixed assets in Singapore: more than $3 million
      3. Total annual sales turnover in Singapore: more than $10 million
      4. Singapore offices is a Regional Head Office with marketing, treasury, logistics and operations functions

    Any Firm or Company directly carrying on the business of Manufacturing in Singapore or any other territory as the Council may approve from time to time may apply to be an Ordinary member.

    Are defined as:

    1. Any business that is involved in supply chain activities including but not limited to transportation and distribution.
    2. Any business that is not directly in the business of manufacturing.

    Any Firm or Company that is not directly in the business of Manufacturing but provides a service to manufacturers may apply to be a General Member.

    Association Members

    Are defined as:

    1. Ordinary Association Members

      Any association may apply to be an Ordinary Member if at the time of application for membership, at least 50% of the members of that Association are Ordinary Members of SMa.

    2. General Association Members

      Any association may apply to be a General Member if at the time of application for membership, less than 50% of the members of that Association are Ordinary Members of SMa.

Procedure for application and termination

  1. Every application for membership shall be made on the application form prescribed by SMa.
  2. All completed online application forms shall be submitted for Council's approval. Upon acceptance of membership, a formal letter of intent (on company letterhead) is required together with a crossed cheque made payable to "Singapore Manufacturering Federation" for payment of the entrance fee and relevant subscription fee for the first year.
  3. Membership of the Federation shall cease to exist if a member serves written notice of resignation to the Council to take effect not less than 30 days from the date of receipt of such notice and when such notice is being acknowledged by SMa in writing.
  4. A member whose membership has ceased shall not be eligible for re-election to SMa membership for a period of two (2) years from the date of cessation unless the Council decides otherwise.
  5. All membership applications are subject to Council's approval.

Membership fees

  1. The entrance fee for all categories of membership shall be $200.00 + prevailing GST.
  2. Subscription fees are payable in advance, on a six monthly basis in January and July, and no refund will be made to any members resigning or whose membership has been terminated during either of these (6) months’ period.
  3. SMa reserves the right to impose interest charges on late payments. Payments made after the due date will be charged at 1% per month till the date of receipt of such payment.
  4. If a member fails to pay his subscriptions or any other monies due and owing to SMa with the relevant period as stipulated in the Constitution (as amended from time to time), or such other longer periods as the SMa Council may from time to time specify, the SMa Council may take such actions as it deems appropriate, subject to the Constitution (as amended from time to time), including but not limited to suspension of all rights, privileges and benefits of such members and/or termination of membership.
  5. Members who join SMa under any promotion scheme are required to keep their membership for at least 12 months.
  6. Members hereby undertake to pay SMa for all outstanding fees and any other amounts due and owing on a timely basis.
