11 Jan 2018 – Ambassador of Ukraine to Singapore, His Excellency Dmytro Senik, paid a courtesy visit to Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF). His visit preempts a delegation of 20 Ukrainian food exporters arriving in Singapore later this month to showcase their products to local importers, distributors and retailers at the Ukraine: Buyers-Sellers Meet organised by Singapore Business Federation (SBF).

SMF President Mr Douglas Foo hosted his Excellency and discussions between both parties focused on how SMF, as the largest national organisation representing the interests of manufacturing and its related industries including the food & beverage sector, could assist with potential business matching . The upcoming delegation visit presents an excellent opportunity for local businesses to partner Ukrainian food exporters in sourcing for alternative food producers and diversifying existing supply chains.

Ukraine is the largest country in Europe by territory. Most of its land is dedicated to agricultural use with agricultural land area equaling that of Germany and France combined. Ukraine is already a leading global and European producer/exporter of a variety of food produce ranging from sunflower oil to walnuts, which can be attributed to the fact that approximately a third of the world’s best soils can be found in Ukraine. Still, Ukraine continues to increase food and agricultural products exports most rapidly.
