Every year The Packaging Council of Singapore (PCS) organises a packaging conference as a platform to reach other to both Industry Players and Students from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) to learn about the latest trends and changes impacting the Packaging Industry.
In this year’s edition, together with the SMF’s Food and Beverage (F&B) Industry Group, the focus of the conference was on Singapore’s Journey towards Zero Waste. Deputy Director of the Waste and Resource Management Department of the National Environment Agency (NEA), Mr Ron Wong, highlighted the importance of Singapore becoming a Zero Waste Nation. The NEA covered topics on aspects of Electronic Waste, Food Waste as well as Mandatory Waste Reporting for industrial premises as well as Mandatory Packaging reporting.
Sustainability, functionality and design is also an integral part of a product. RenewFibre Asia Pte Ltd, who has won the Singapore Packaging Star Awards (SPSA) 2017, AsiaStar 2017 and Wordstar 2018 and Consulus Pte Ltd, who sits on the committee of Design Business Chamber Singapore, were also invited as speakers for the conference to share their experience on their journey towards zero waste.
During the Tea Break Session, attendees were able to view many new innovative and sustainable products which are entries of the Singapore Packaging Star Awards (SPSA) 2020. The SPSA 2020 had the judging done that same morning.
The attendees actively participated in the Q&A session and raised many good points.
The event received much positive feedback and we are grateful to our partners RHB Bank Singapore and Messe Düsseldorf Asia Pte Ltd, distinguished speakers, and attendees for making this conference insightful and impactful. We hope to see you soon at our next event.
