Highlights of the "Student Engagement - Unlocking the Future of Manufacturing" Event

In collaboration with Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), the SMF Youth Network Function Committee and Global Ready Talent (GRT) hosted a student engagement event held at SIT@Nanyang Polytechnic on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024 to engage with the next generation of manufacturing professionals with industry leaders.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀
🔹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲: Mr. Dennis Mark 麥榮良, CEO of SMF, shared invaluable insights on automation, job security, skills development, data integration, cybersecurity, and change management.

🔹 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: Mr. Gerald Cheng, Head of Group HR at Tai Sin Electric Ltd, discussed what employers seek in fresh graduates, career opportunities in manufacturing, and experiences with hiring interns and graduates.

🔹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Moderated by Mr. Eugene Yoo, Chairman of the SMF Youth Network Function Committee and General Manager at Surgical Vision, Johnson & Johnson Pte Ltd, the panel consisted of Mr. Gerald Cheng, Mr. Kim Peng Lim, Career Coach at SIT, Mr. Edward Dassan Rajanderan, Manufacturing Equipment Engineer at Micron Semiconductor Asia Pte Ltd and SIT Alumnus.

Students had the chance to ask burning questions and explore potential job roles with their degrees. The networking session provided a fantastic opportunity for students to interact with industry professionals who could be their future employers.
