His Excellency Mr Tauhedul Islam was very privileged and appreciative of the invitation to the SMF, and he acknowledged the remarkable development of our bilateral partnership between Singapore and Bangladesh over the years. They also discussed in depth the trade relationship between Bangladesh and Singapore and how SMF could play a key role in helping companies in Bangladesh to do business with Singapore companies.

During the meeting, SMF President, Mr Douglas Foo also highlighted that Singapore has extensive FTAs with a range of countries that can make it easier to access overseas markets. As an FTA partner, Bangladesh will therefore have a good mentor in Singapore to help Bangladeshi companies venture overseas. He also mentions exploring the potential of the joint training partnership with SMF to train unskilled workers in Bangladesh and to organize a business mission to Bangladesh in the near future, as Singaporean businesses have shown a strong interest in Bangladesh's rapid growth and in sectors such as power, energy, transport, logistics and ports.
