The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) welcomes the new political appointments and wish the Ministers every success in their new portfolios.

The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) welcomes the new political appointments and wish the Ministers every success in their new portfolios.

SMF President Mr Douglas Foo said, "I am both humbled and thankful that these Ministers have over the years built up close relations with the SMF in the different Ministries they have helmed.  The SMF looks forward to continue working closely together with the Ministers in their new portfolios and with our members, especially in such uncertain economic times."

The SMF also places on record its thanks and appreciation to Minister Chan Chun Sing and Minister Josephine Teo for the good works they have done and wish them all the best in their new appointment as Minister for Education and Minister for Communications and Information respectively.

The SMF looks forward excitedly to engaging closely with Minister Gan Kim Yong and Minister Tan See Leng in their new portfolios as Minister for Trade and Industry and Minister for Manpower respectively as we continue to work towards the Manufacturing Vision 2030.

We also welcome Minister Lawrence Wong on his appointment as Singapore’s Finance Minister. While the impact on Singapore has been cushioned by prudent fiscal policies to date, one of the main economic challenges ahead would be helping Singaporean workers and businesses find anchor and stability in a fluid and dynamic environment.

In this regard, the Singapore manufacturing community draws confidence from the track record of our country's leaders working selflessly together as a team. We thank DPM Heng Swee Keat for all the good work he has done and wish Minister Lawrence Wong every success ahead.

The SMF reaffirms its commitment as a steadfast partner in nation building and looks forward to continue working closely with the country's leadership to propagate the message of a renewed manufacturing sector.
