SMF member, Lim Siang Huat Pte Ltd’s is a distributor of F&B choices to businesses in the hospitality, lifestyle, F&B and healthcare sectors. Aside from taking pride of their heritage with more than seven decades as a family-run business, LSH is also takes pride of being an advocate of our National Service and Total Defence.

Their strong support for NS and Total Defence has seen them being awarded the NS Advocate Award for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises at the Total Defence Awards 2016 dinner in August this year. This is the highest accolade awarded to individuals, businesses or organisations for their exemplary support towards Total Defence and, in particular, NS.

LSH’s pro-NS journey started in 2012 by progressively implementing pro-NS human resource (HR) policies and practices that support its NSmen employees towards fulfilling their NS commitments such as giving its NSmen employees time-off for their Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT); even allowing them to drive its company’s vehicle to the test venue; and rewarding those who do well for their IPPT with cash rewards.

“When businesses support their national servicemen (NSmen) employees, they directly contribute to Singapore’s defence, which in turn, is integral for businesses’ sustained growth,” said Mr Peter Lim, Business Development Director of LSH.

Recently, the company had been accredited with the NS Mark (Gold) under the NS Mark accreditation scheme, which was launched also in August this year. This national-level accreditation scheme has two tiers – NS Mark and NS Mark (Gold) – and recognises businesses and organisations which have put in place policies and human resource practices that support NS and Total Defence. Companies which are interested to apply for the NS Mark may do so at www.nsmark.sg.
